Brewster (KAAP# 827)
Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP)
Adoption
Brew4
Brewster is a 5-month old "Kootenay Special" pup; he is a mix of Border Collie, Blue Heeler, and perhaps some Staffy. His birthdate is Aug 22 2011.
Brewster is going to be a medium sized dog we think. He is 15 kg right now. Such a little sweetie!

Moka (KAAP# 826)
Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP)
Adoption
Moka1web
Moka is almost 4 months old, and he already weighs 46 lbs! He is going to be a big boy!
Moka is an Anatolian Shepherd - Akbash cross. He is Anna Banana's son.

Anna Banana (KAAP# 800)
Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP)
Adoption
anna1web
Anna is a 3-4 year old dog. She is an Akbash - Anatolian Shepherd cross. She recently had a litter of 11 healthy puppies, and now that she is in KAAP care she has been spayed and vaccinated. Anna is a sweet tempered girl. She gets along with the other (dominant) male dog in the foster home and largely ignores the cats.
These are the things Anna loves: running, car rides (esp. if she can curl up on the front seat beside the driver), her soft bed, curling up on the couch, treats, compliments, etc.

Spike (KAAP# 793)
Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP)
Adoption
Spike
Spike is a five-year old neutered German Shepherd who until he came to KAAP spent his life as a guard dog. When his people had to move and he was about to be euthanized, KAAP brought him into care. Not surprisingly he has found that life as a pet in his foster home is way more to his liking than being on a chain 24/7. True to his breed, he will bark and let you know if you are about to have a visitor - but don’t let his name fool you – once he meets a new person he welcomes all the attention and love he can con out of you.

Dudley and Smarty
Adoption
Dudley and Smarty
Dudley & Smarty are in Nelson and for adoption together. Their senior went into a home and was no longer able to care for them. These boys are for people who would like to adopt two smaller older easy care dogs. They still like going for walks and playing and it's really quite comical to watch them play together. Of course being 13 & 14 they do love to watch t.v. with you and snooze.

Blaze and Toes (KAAP #763 and 765)
Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP)
Adoption
Blaze and Toes
These two sweeties are such good friends, they sleep together, play together, want to eat out of the same food bowl even though they each have their own.
They are 15 weeks old, have been fully vaccinated, and are spayed and tattooed.

Tildie
Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP)
Adoption
Tildie---Tarp-mamaweb
Mama Tildie. Very nice, seems quite young. Beautiful big green eyes, very sweet demeanor. Was left on someone's doorstep with her 4 kittens. She will make a great pet. She is being spayed and vaccinated this week, and will be ready for adoption,

Belle, the beautiful Cat-in-a-Box Mama (KAAP#685)
Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP)
Adoption
Belle1
Belle has had a lot of drama in her short life - this lovely female cat was dropped off in a taped box with her 5 tiny kittens. (All are adopted now). Belle has now been spayed, tattooed and vaccinated. She is a very sweet-tempered cat, still very young herself, and very kittenish. She loves to play and has been known to race off with a ball of yarn when she can get her paws on one!

Gracie
PALS (Nakusp)
Adoption
F856F_Gracie
NEEDS A LOVING HOME!! P.A.L.S. needs a good home for this grey beauty. Gracie (F856F) is a medium hair, spayed female. She is a bit shy as she was lost and out on her own for awhile. If you would like to meet Gracie, please call P.A.L.S. at 250-265-3792 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Help Us Save Lives! Become a KAAP Foster Home
Be a Lifesaver .... Foster a pet today

Help us save lives! The Kootenay Animal Assistance Program Society (KAAP) has helped over 500 homeless pets in the past 3 years, and our work has only started. Join our team of foster homes in the community by taking in a cat, kitten, dog, or puppy, and caring for it until a permanent home is found. These animals need you, right now.

? Will I be stuck with the pet if it isn’t adopted?
No. First, we have been very successful in finding homes for all our animals. But if the adoption takes longer than expected or wanted, we will move the pet to another foster home. We are a no-kill organization.

? Isn’t it too hard to let go of the pet?
While it’s always difficult to say goodbye to a friend, it is much easier if you are happy with the pet’s new home. KAAP involves you in the adoption process, and you feel good about your foster pet’s future.

? Won’t it tie me down from traveling?
No. Just give KAAP your schedule, and we will make it fit with our foster pets’ needs. We are looking for weekend-only and short-term foster homes as well, to help fill these gaps.

? What will it cost me?
Only your precious non-renewable resource – your time. KAAP provides all the supplies for the pet. Anything you wish to donate will receive a tax receipt, as we are a registered charity.

? What qualifications do I need?
A big heart, a home (or permission from your landlord to foster pets), a love and patience for animals, and time to spend with them. Let us know if you have any special skills or experience with animals, their training, or medical care.

? What if I need help?
You always have a KAAP volunteer to call and discuss any concerns.

Our work is important and urgent; we are saving lives. We can’t do it without you. Please join us and be a lifesaver.
